A week later – A fitting End

January 26th, 2005 No comments
Not sure what to write – don’t really remember where I left off. I guess I could have read it before I decided to post but what would be the point?

It’s been a week now since I was told I will no longer have a job soon. I haven’t gone into work until today. I had another interview right around the corner from where I used to work so I thought I’d stop in and get some things I left there and talk a bit with some “friends”. It’s funny how differently I look at the people there now. In a new fresh light almost. OH! Something very fitting happened. I went to get a cup of coffee with my usual company mug. While trying to clean the week old gunk at the bottom it slipped and fell to the tile floor with a loud crash! People came from everywhere to see what happened (they could never keep their noses out of everyone else’s business. Anyway the cup ended up in many pieces. A fitting end to my employment there. Time to break with the old and move on to a new mug. I grabbed a paper cup poured some coffee and enjoyed the moment.

People will soon start to find out the “truth” of what happened to me. I quote it because I know HR and upper management will try to sugar coat it by saying I’m off to greener pastures or something that makes them small (I mean smell) like a rose.

Can’t wait to hear what’s next.

A Door Is Closing – Someone Please Open A Window!

January 19th, 2005 No comments
Well it looks like that time has come. My brother and I both work for the same company (I am his boss). Yesterday we stumbled on two e-mails to our boss (pres), which were blocked in our spam filter. We search through for false positives. They were from a local company that outsources IT departments. Well, today my brother was called into the HR director’s office. He called him on his cell phone at lunch to come back. It’s been 2 hours already and no word. Possible outcomes:
1. He is let go and the e-mails were incase I leave because he is family
2. I am going to be let go and they are talking to him to see if he is going to leave because I am family.
3. We are both gone and they just picked him first.

Not looking for sympathy I don’t much like this company, even before all this, just looking to vent (hence the open window).
